Robin Lewis of Robin Lewis Consulting, Inc. has over thirty years experience in the field of business licensing.  During her career, she accumulated vast experience in writing various municipal ordinances, keeping up with legislative changes, and providing opinions to taxpayers, CPAs, attorneys and other local municipalities.  Within the Charlotte, NC Business Tax Collections Unit, Ms. Lewis identified inequities, and initiated significant changes in the Privilege License tax structure that resulted in an increase in revenue.  She also played an integral part in the initiation and adoption of a County Privilege License Ordinance of Mecklenburg County.  In addition, she was responsible for implementing several new monthly taxes for Charlotte/Mecklenburg (i.e.; Short-term Vehicle rental, additional Room Occupancy tax for the NASCAR Museum, and a 5% U-Drive It tax on rental vehicles.

Robin supervised the Business Tax Collections Unit of the Charlotte, NC Office of the Tax Collector.  This unit of sixteen people was responsible for the collection of Privilege, Beer and Wine, Taxi Cab License, Room Occupancy, Prepared Food & Beverage, Vehicle Rental, and U-Drive-It taxes.  Robin, along with a couple of her peers, established the North Carolina Association of Business License Officials in 1991.  Robin has served the association and the State, by leading training sessions, serving on and often chairing committees, and has held all the offices of the association during her career.  She was recognized as the North Carolina Business Licensing Official of the year in 2006.

Previously, she was responsible for recommending ordinance changes for the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County affecting revenue collection for all Business Tax Collections (i.e.; Privilege License Unit and Room Occupancy/Prepared Food and Beverage Unit).  New processes were implemented which improved efficiency and productivity.

Robin Lewis has many years of experience in management and implementation of the various production systems utilized by a major municipal tax collection department.
